GiftDetector is operated by Ethan Nguyen as an individual. In these Terms, “GiftDetector,” “we,” and “us” refer to Ethan Nguyen operating this service. You can reach us at thegiftdetector@gmail.com.
These Terms cover giftdetector.com, its gift finder, accounts, saved lists, shared lists, and gift guides. By using the service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please stop using it. Our Privacy & Cookies policy explains how information is handled.
Using the service and your account
You must be at least 13 to use GiftDetector, or older if the law where you live requires it. If you are under 18, you need a parent or guardian’s permission and supervision. A parent or guardian permitting use is responsible for that use.
Provide accurate account information, keep your login secure, and use only accounts you are entitled to access. Let us know if you suspect unauthorized access. Our sign-in provider handles passwords, verification, and connected sign-in accounts. Do not share your password or verification codes with us.
Guest searches do not require an account. An account lets you save gift lists and keep chats across visits. Browser data and guest chats may be associated with the first account you sign in to in that browser, as explained in our privacy policy.
Free searches and availability
GiftDetector currently offers free access with daily search allowances. The app shows your available searches and reset time. Follow-up requests also count. Account, browser, bot-prevention, and site-wide limits can restrict searches even when an individual allowance remains.
There is currently no paid subscription. We may change free allowances, features, or availability as we develop the service. Any future paid offer will show its price and require a separate purchase decision before you are charged. We do not promise uninterrupted service or permanent availability of a particular feature.
Gift suggestions and AI
GiftDetector provides ideas and research assistance. AI can misunderstand a request or produce inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated information. Recommendations and guides are not guarantees that a gift is suitable, safe, authentic, available, or the best price.
Check the retailer’s current listing, product specifications, age guidance, safety warnings, seller, price, and delivery before buying. Listed prices are reference prices that may exclude tax and shipping. A budget match does not guarantee the price on the purchase page. Source links and dates do not mean we have personally tested a product.
Do not rely on gift suggestions as medical, legal, financial, or other professional advice. Use your own judgment about the recipient’s needs and preferences.
Retailers and affiliate links
Purchases take place on independent retailer websites. GiftDetector does not sell, ship, warrant, or accept returns for the products it recommends. Your purchase is governed by the retailer’s terms. Contact the retailer about orders, payments, delivery, returns, or refunds.
We may earn commissions from qualifying purchases through affiliate links. Among similarly suitable options, affiliate availability can influence which product we prioritize. Your requests and saved content
You keep any rights you have in the requests, notes, and other content you provide. You give us permission to store, process, and transmit that content to our service providers as needed to operate the features you use, including generating suggestions and showing lists you choose to share. This permission does not transfer ownership of your content to us.
Only submit information you have the right to use. Keep gift requests focused on interests and preferences. Avoid addresses, payment details, health records, or other sensitive information about yourself or someone else. You are responsible for deciding what to share.
Anyone with an enabled list-sharing link can view its products. Turning off a list link prevents future access through that link, but cannot retrieve copies others have already made. Individually copied product links remain public.
Fair use and site content
Do not use GiftDetector to break the law, infringe others’ rights, submit malicious code, harass people, access someone else’s private data, or interfere with the service. Do not automate requests or rotate accounts, browsers, or identifiers to bypass search allowances, bot checks, or other safeguards.
GiftDetector’s original branding, design, and site content are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. You may use the service for its intended purpose and share its public links. Other uses must respect our rights and the rights of product owners, retailers, and other third parties. Product names, images, and trademarks belong to their respective owners.
Stopping use or closing an account
You can stop using GiftDetector at any time. Signed-in users can export or delete gift data from Your account. Deleting gift data does not close the sign-in account or reset security limits. To request full account closure, email thegiftdetector@gmail.com from the account’s email address. We may verify ownership before acting.
We may restrict or suspend access when reasonably necessary to prevent abuse, protect users, comply with law, or address a material breach of these Terms. Where practical and appropriate, we will explain the restriction and provide a way to contact us. We may discontinue the service; save a copy of information you want to keep.
Service limitations and your rights
To the extent permitted by applicable law, the service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted operation. We take reasonable care, but cannot guarantee that every suggestion, third-party link, or external service will work correctly.
To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of the service, such as lost business opportunities, or for independent retailers’ conduct. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for fraud, or takes away mandatory consumer rights.
If you have a concern, please contact us so we can try to resolve it. These Terms do not require private arbitration or prevent you from using courts, regulators, or other remedies available under applicable law.
Changes to these Terms
We will update the date on this page when these Terms change. For material changes affecting your rights or use of the service, we will provide a prominent notice on the site or another appropriate notice before the change takes effect, and seek renewed agreement where required.
